Tesla Sweden’s issues with the country’s unions are not over yet, but the electric vehicle maker seems determined to support all EV drivers in the country anyway. As per industry watchers, Tesla Sweden recently opened yet another Supercharger, this time in the Municipality of Ödeshög.

The new Supercharger benefits not just Tesla owners since it offers rapid charging services to other EV brands as well.

New V4 Tesla Supercharger

As per Tesla watcher @NicklasNilsso14, who has long been following the activities of the electric vehicle maker in Sweden, the newly opened Supercharger is located at Östgötaporten in Ödeshög. The site features 12 Superchrger V4 stalls that are ready to provide up to 250 kW to electric vehicles. Its location is good, too, as it was built near the E4 highway exit, making it close to amenities in the area.

The fact that the Supercharger serves not just Teslas but also electric vehicles from other brands will likely be appreciated by drivers in Sweden. Tesla Superchargers, after all, are among the most reliable and convenient rapid charging systems in the country.

Anti-Supercharger Union Efforts

Amidst Tesla’s conflict with IF Metall, other unions in the country have rolled out sympathy measures in an attempt to cripple the company’s operations. Two of the most notable are the Elektrikerna union and Seko, both of which have initiated efforts to block the launch of new Superchargers.

Unfortunately for the unions, Tesla is a very stubborn company, and it is also creative. Tesla also does not hesitate to use its resources to get around the measures being implemented by the unions. Earlier this month, for example, two new Supercharger sites were opened in the city of Södertälje.

The new Södertälje Superchargers upset the unions, with a press officer for the Elektrikerna union stating that Tesla seems to be flying in people to help launch its Superchargers. “It is a good question how this has happened. We think it is unfortunate. But they seem to have their methods. They bring in foreign companies and fly in people, we think,” Bello noted then.

The post Kia gains Tesla Supercharger access and issues a big apology appeared first on TESLARATI.

]]>
Kia has announced that owners of the EV6, EV9, and Niro EVs have officially gained access to over 21,500 Tesla Supercharger locations in North America.

However, its announcement also contained an apology to Tesla.

First, Kia said that its three EV offerings will have access to Tesla’s expansive Supercharger Network. More than 40,000 DC fast chargers are available to Kia EV drivers, a major uptick as Tesla Supercharger access nearly doubles the number of accessible piles.

Sean Yoon, President of Kia North America and Kia America, said:

“Kia is committed to an exceptional ownership experience, and expanding the network of available DC fast chargers to our EV customers is an important component to maintaining the brand’s leadership in electrified mobility. Now, with access to the Tesla Supercharger network of DC fast chargers, our EV owners can feel even more confident in their decision to purchase or lease a fully electric Kia vehicle.”

Kia owners who have a CCS1 Charging Port will have access to an NACS adapter through dealerships. This will enable compatibility, as current inlets are not NACS, the port that Tesla utilizes.

However, Kia will eliminate the need for this adapter starting with the 2025 EV6 and 2026 EV9. These will come standard with NACS inlets.

We mentioned Kia included somewhat of an apology to Tesla, which is related to social media posts from “certain Nordic distributors,” as the company puts it:

Kia said in its announcement:

Kia America is aware of marketing posts by certain Nordic distributors. These initiatives were developed entirely independently by those distributors, without direction from Kia AmericaKia Europe or Kia Global. We want it to be clear that these posts do not reflect the position of Kia America, and we remain committed to clear and professional communication that reflects our values.”

The company also said that it “condemns the recent attacks that disrupt the availability of convenient and affordable charging for our customers.”

Tesla is planning to build a new UFO-inspired Supercharger in the heart of Alien country — Roswell, New Mexico.

Back in 1947, a crash of debris led to rumors of an alleged crash of a UFO just 75 miles north of Roswell near Corona, New Mexico. The crash was officially noted as the recovery of a military balloon, but over the years, speculation persists that the “flying disc” many saw might have been extraterrestrials trying to make contact with Earth.

As a result of the 1947 crash, Roswell has adopted it and used it as the inspiration for much of its tourism. As Tesla is planning to build a Supercharger in the area, it is using the same sort of inspiration for the location, which will feature just eight charging stalls located under a CyberCanopy.

It was first spotted by MarcoRP, a noted Supercharger permit insider:

Here are some better pictures of the design:

Tesla’s Head of Charging for North America, Max de Zegher, confirmed that the site will be inspired by the events near Roswell in 1947. He noted that Tesla “wants to build a few Superchargers cool enough to be worth of the trip itself.”

This will undoubtedly be one of those locations, and along with the Tesla Drive-in Diner Supercharger in Santa Monica, it seems the company could be moving toward some more unique designs for the future, making the charging experience more fun and interesting for owners:

Ford has sent out all of its complimentary Tesla NACS adapters https://www.teslarati.com/ford-free-replacement-tesla-nacs-adapters/ https://www.teslarati.com/ford-free-replacement-tesla-nacs-adapters/#respond Tue, 11 Mar 2025 17:51:31 +0000 https://www.teslarati.com/?p=284664 Free adapters have made their way to nearly 140,000 owners, along with being listed for sale online.

The post Ford has sent out all of its complimentary Tesla NACS adapters appeared first on TESLARATI.

Ford says it has officially sent out all of its complimentary adapters for Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS), as the automaker announced this week.

In a press release on Tuesday, Ford said that it has sent out all 139,936 free NACS adapters to owners of its electric vehicles (EVs), shipping as part of the company’s limited-time Fast Charging Adapter program launched last year. Following the shipment of the complimentary adapters, which will allow Ford EVs to charge at Tesla’s Superchargers, the automaker has also listed the equipment for $200 on its web store.

The news also follows the company’s notice in October that customers should return adapters from the separate Power Promise program, due to them causing potential vehicle damage. This issue applied to roughly 4,600 adapters distributed as part of the program, though Ford has clarified to Teslarati that these were separate from those shipped under the Fast Charging Adapter program.

Along with potentially damaging the charging port, Ford said that those adapters could also result in decreased charging speeds over time.

In addition to fast-chargers with the CCS hardware, Ford owners can use the NACS adapters to charge at the over 17,800 Tesla Superchargers across North America, and without fear of damaging their charging ports. The company initially began sending out the replacement adapters for the Power Promise hardware in the last week of October, after recommending that customers stop using the initially-supplied adapter immediately.

Ford’s latest NACS adapter was developed by Lectron, and it’s rated for up to 500 amps and 1,000 volts, according to the product listing. It also comes with a three-year warranty from the date of purchase, and is rated for IP67 dust and water resistance rating. Additionally, Ford says it can be operated in temperatures from -22 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit.

Ford was the first other automaker to gain access to Tesla’s Supercharger network last January, after also being the first to officially adopt NACS the previous year. Following Ford, the rest of the industry slowly announced plans to adopt the standard, and Tesla has been rolling out access one brand at a time over the last several months.

Multiple Tesla Supercharger stations were allegedly set on fire in Massachusetts (MA). The preliminary investigation into the Tesla charging station fires concluded they were “intentionally set.”

On Monday at approximately 1:10 a.m., the Littleton Police Department in Massachusetts received reports of fires at a Tesla Supercharger station in The Point Shopping Center.

“Responding officers observed that several Tesla charging stations were engulfed in flames and heavy, dark smoke,” noted the Littleton Police Department.

Police contacted the Littleton Electric Light & Water Department and requested to shut down power at the affected Tesla Supercharger stalls. However, before the electric light and water department could arrive, a new blaze started at another Tesla Supercharger.

After the flames were extinguished the fire at seven Tesla Supercharger stalls, a preliminary investigation started. No injuries were sustained in the fires. Tesla responded, stating that it will replace all the posts and wires at the station in less than 48 hours. The Littleton Police Department started a preliminary investigation into the Tesla Supercharger fire.

“Littleton Police and Fire Departments and the Massachusetts State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit attached to the State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating and have determined that the fire appears to have been intentionally set.”

The case falls under the Arson Watch Reward Program, which rewards up to $5,000 for information that solves, prevents, or detects arson crimes.

Navigation warnings referring to adapters for Tesla’s North America Charging Standard (NACS) are set to be added to Apple Maps in a future update, as spotted by one code sleuth this week.

On Monday, X user and code sleuth Aaronp613 shared code from a future iOS 18.4 beta update that includes Maps references to NACS charging adapters, warning drivers when such an adapter is required on certain navigation routes. The code looks like it includes a voice alert and heading message for the Apple Maps navigation system, which can be expected to be added in a future update.

The latest iOS version available at this time for iPhone and iPad is 18.3.1, according to Apple’s website. The anticipated update is also expected to arrive amidst increased cross-platform integration for vehicle owners, as many companies attempt to make it easier for electric vehicle (EV) owners to stay charged and keep tabs on their vehicles.

READ MORE ON TESLA SUPPORT FOR APPLE DEVICES: First look at Tesla’s app for the Apple Watch

Many Tesla and other-brand EV owners use an iPhone or other Apple devices, so integration between these and a person’s vehicles are becoming increasingly important. The automaker also launched an Apple Watch app as part of its holiday update in December, letting owners control their vehicles even from the wearable device.

Tesla has also been rolling out widespread access to its Supercharger network to other EV brands over the last several months, and the code is just the latest hint at updates focused on making it easier for consumers to use its charging stations. As more and more brands gain access, drivers of non-Tesla vehicles will also be using the Supercharger network in increasing volumes, making such alerts especially important for making sure new owners are informed and aware of what they might encounter on their navigation routes.

Companies across the industry announced partnerships to adopt Tesla’s NACS charging standard in future vehicle models throughout much of 2023, alongside plans to offer adapters to owners of existing vehicles with the CCS hardware.

Tesla’s official Supercharger account on X has confirmed that the electric vehicle maker will be filing legal action against people who vandalize the company’s property.

The comment was posted as a response to an X post about a Supercharger stall that was vandalized with Nazi graffiti.

The incident:

 • As could be seen in a photo posted by X user @SnazzyLabs, a Supercharger stall was vandalized with the word “Nazi” and a swastika.
 • “This graffiti at my local Supercharger would suggest that perhaps Elon Musk is damaging Tesla’s brand,” the X user wrote.
 • In a follow-up post, the X user noted that the adjacent Supercharger stall had been tagged by graffiti as well.

Tesla’s Supercharger Team Speaks Up:

 • In response to the X user’s first post, the official Tesla Charging account on X noted that the graffiti would be removed immediately.
 • “Will be removed by tomorrow morning. Our network will stay in first class condition for our customers,” the Tesla Charging team wrote.
 • Amidst conversations about the incident, some X users noticed that there appeared to be a camera near the vandalized Supercharger that might have captured the incident.
 • In response to these observations, the Tesla Charging team noted that the company will be pressing charges for vandalism incidents at Superchargers.
 • “We will press charges for vandalism at Superchargers,” the Tesla Charging team wrote.

Anti-Tesla and Musk sentiments:

 • Elon Musk is among the most controversial people in the world today, thanks to his increasingly conservative leanings and his close work with U.S. President Donald Trump through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
 • This has resulted in Teslas and Tesla stores being targeted by people extremely critical of Musk.
 • In recent weeks, protests have been held at Tesla locations. A Tesla store also became the victim of a shooting incident in Salem, Oregon, last week.

Tesla is planning a new “Supercharger queue” feature at select Supercharger sites in an effort to end one rare issue: confrontation or confusion regarding who is next in line.

While it is an uncommon issue, Supercharger congestion does occur in heavily populated areas where a high concentration of EVs can cause extensive wait times at charging piles.

These lines can sometimes become an issue as drivers will, on occasion, become combative if they feel they have arrived at a charger before another owner. People cutting in line is something that can occur, especially at busy Superchargers.

As a result, Tesla has confirmed that it will roll out a new “Virtual queuing pilot” program starting in Q2 at select Superchargers:

“Virtual queuing pilots starting in Q2 at select sites. Goal is a net customer experience improvement for the ~1% cases of a wait time. Wider rollout this year if feedback is positive. We also continue to expand the network 20%+ year-over-year, closely tracking site-level demand.”

While it is something that does happen, Tesla will combat the issue with two different strategies in an effort to eliminate it.

The first strategy is the pilot program, which will help drivers determine the correct order to approach a plug and get charging. However, this does not completely eliminate the problem, and because some people are petty, they may feel that the queue is incorrect and pull into the spot anyway, causing an even bigger delay.

Tesla launches Congestion Fees at Superchargers in U.S.

The second strategy has been going on for years: expanding the presence of Superchargers throughout.

As Tesla expands its infrastructure, lines and delays at Superchargers will become less frequent. This does not completely eliminate the issue, though. EVs are still selling, and people are adopting electric cars every day.

Now that Tesla also allows EVs built by other manufacturers to access Supercharging, the issue is technically even bigger than ever. It will be a constant battle to build as many Superchargers as possible to make the problem become so rare that it is essentially a non-issue.

The queue will also need to communicate with vehicles made by other companies. We asked Tesla about this in response to their post on X. The company has not yet answered, but if they do, we’ll update this article.

It will likely never be completely out of the question, though, as gas station lines still exist. This is true even though gas stations are available on a massive basis.

Tesla is still dealing with Supercharger theft and vandalism at various locations, and it is starting to use some pretty interesting techniques to combat it.

Yesterday, we reported on a few techniques it is using at a Supercharger in Seattle, Washington.

Tesla is wrapping its Supercharger cables in a new material that is tougher to cut through.

In addition to that, it is also equipping the wrapping with ink packs, which will explode on the perpetrator and make it easy for police to identify a suspect.

This is just what we can see.

We now know Tesla is going even further to stop theft and vandalism of its Superchargers and their cables. Tesla’s Head of Charging, Max de Zegher, revealed one technique that it is using inside of the cable for several markets.

de Zegher revealed that Tesla is really going after those who want the metals inside the Supercharger cables, which can be scrapped for some good cash. The copper inside the Supercharger cables is now being engraved with “Property of Tesla” as it is produced at the company’s Buffalo Gigafactory:

“Supercharger cables will also have ‘Property of Tesla’ engraved from our Buffalo NY factory, so recycling companies shouldn’t accept them and notify us. It’s a scalable, cost-effective solution that doesn’t impact service operations & customer experience.”

Credit: Max de Zegher | X

Scrappers will now have to explain to the companies they’re selling to why the copper they’re attempting to salvage has a “Property of Tesla Motors” stamp on it. This could make for an easier police investigation, leading to more arrests.

As this becomes more public knowledge, perhaps it will have a bigger impact on Supercharger thievery.

Of course, that’s wishful thinking. Despite Tesla’s *very* public use of Sentry Mode to deter vehicle vandals and burglars, some are still quite shellshocked to find out the very car they robbed recorded them in the act.

Tesla already operates one of the most expansive and reliable electric vehicle charging networks in the industry. But in true Tesla fashion, the company’s Director of Charging for North America recently noted that the EV maker is not done.

Tesla is not just rolling out more powerful Superchargers. It is also rolling them out at extremely low costs.

Tesla Supercharger costs:

 • Recent comments from Tesla Director of Charging for North America Max de Zegher have confirmed that the company only spends just about $40k-$45k to install one Supercharger stall today.
 • The Tesla executive’s comments came as a response to news about New York Gov. Kathy Hochul announcing that NY Green Bank and Revel have completed a $60 million transaction to build 267 new charging stalls across New York City.
 • Considering the $60 million transaction, each stall in NY Green Bank and Revel’s transaction is equivalent to about $224,719.

Not done yet:

 • Following de Zegher’s comment about Tesla’s Supercharger stall installation costs just being about $40k-$45k today, some users on social media platform X promptly inquired if the costs would still be similar once the company rolls out its V4 Supercharger with V4 Cabinet
 • Tesla’s V4 Supercharger with V4 Cabinet has the capability to provide up to 500 kW per stall.
 • The Tesla executive noted that even with the V4 Cabinet, the company should still be able to deploy it for less than $40k per stall.
 • “Engineering is working weekends on it, aiming for first pilot sites in Q3. Despite increased capability of up to 500kW/stall, we should be able to deploy it for less than $40k/stall,” de Zegher wrote in a post on X.
